How We Make Money

NorthBriar is free to read, has no paywall, and does not sell ads against its pages. The site is funded one way: referrals. This page spells out exactly how that works, because we would rather over-explain it than have you wonder.

The disclosure, in one paragraph

NorthBriar is an independent publisher, not a plumbing contractor. When you call the number on this site, we may connect you with a licensed local plumbing partner and may receive compensation for qualified referrals. This does not change the price you pay: the plumber quotes you the same job at the same rate whether you arrived through us or through a phone book.

What actually happens when you call

Your call is routed to a licensed, insured plumbing partner that serves your area and is available to answer. From that moment, the relationship is between you and the plumber: they quote the work, you approve or decline it, and you pay them directly. NorthBriar is not a party to that transaction. If the referral qualifies under our partner agreements, we receive a fee from the partner, never from you. The legal fine print lives in our terms of use.

A "qualified referral" typically means a genuine service call from a homeowner in the partner's area: not a wrong number, not a robocall, not a question we should have answered on the page. Hang-ups and misdials earn nothing, which is one more reason the content has to be genuinely useful before the phone ever enters the picture.

What the money cannot buy

Compensation from partners does not purchase influence over what we publish. Partners do not see pages before they go live, do not edit them, and cannot pay for softer safety warnings or scarier cost figures. Our editorial policy is the wall between the two sides of this operation. The clearest evidence is in the content itself: a large share of our guides tell you how to solve the problem without hiring anyone: drip a faucet, open a cabinet, wrap a pipe.

Why this model works without manufactured panic

Frozen and burst pipes are common enough that we do not need to exaggerate anything. Insurance Information Institute figures show water-damage-and-freezing claims arriving from roughly one insured U.S. home in sixty each typical year, trailing only wind and hail among homeowners claims. Real emergencies keep the phone ringing on their own. Our job is to help you figure out, honestly, whether your situation is one of them; more about us is on the about page.
